Transconomy Partners With Mobileye to Enhance Connected Vehicle Data

Transconomy has teamed with Mobileye, an Intel company, to further advance AI-driven solutions for infrastructure asset management and safety across the US. This collaboration will leverage Transconomy’s ability to capture and extract asset inventory and condition data from Mobileye’s imagery. The asset data will be integrated with Mobileye’s crowd-sourced data to provide a holistic view of a transportation network’s condition and use. Enhanced visualization of this large-scale source of data will also be provided through Transconomy Viewer with the goal of empowering transportation stakeholders and officials through improved analysis and decision-making practices.

This agreement is a testament to Mobileye’s confidence in Transconomy as a reliable transportation asset management solution. The Transconomy team is excited to enter into this partnership and looks forward to a wide range of opportunities to create impactful solutions for the transportation industry.

Transconomy to Support Pavement Maintenance for the City of Irvine

Transconomy recently partnered with Infrastructure Management Services (IMS) to develop a pavement surface area inventory for the City of Irvine, CA. Transconomy leveraged AI technology to create a digital twin of the roadway network including an accurate pavement surface inventory as well as color coding the relative importance of the roadway segment. The resulting inventory supports an accurate estimation of the required costs for maintenance activities and the prioritization of road segments to assist with the development of an optimized maintenance plan. Thematic maps generated on Transconomy Viewer represent these pavement polygons as color-coded assets indicating the functional class of the roads.

Transconomy Selected to Present at the IRF Annual Conference in Morocco

Transconomy is proud to be selected as one of the finalists at the 4th International Conference for Sustainable Mobility and International Road Federation (IRF) Start-up Label 2022 Edition, which is being held in Marrakech, Morocco this year. The IRF Startup Label is an international competition whose aim is to identify cutting-edge solutions that promote IRF’s primary goals. Each application was examined by a pool of IRF experts to gauge the environmental and social impacts of the innovation, the level of innovation and the company’s capacity to protect it, market traction, its viability and scalability, and founders’ profiles. From a pool of dozens of start-ups, six were selected as finalists to present their pitch at the conference, and only two will then be selected to receive the prestigious IRF Start-up Label and receive support including mentoring, exposure, and marketing expertise.

The conference will be attended by high-level stakeholders from the public and private sector, to discuss innovative approaches to transportation and infrastructure for sustainable economic prosperity. Ammar Waqar, Chief Technical Officer of Transconomy, will be presenting at the conference on Thursday, October 6, 2022 in Marrakech and will talk about the challenges infrastructure industries are facing and how Transconomy’s AI-based Transportation Asset Management solution will help solve these problems.

AASHTO’s Digital Web Services to be Transformed by iENGINEERING

AASHTO has partnered with iENGINEERING to modernize and improve AASHTO’s digital presence and solidify their identity by redefining their brand. As part of this initiative, iENGINEERING will completely redesign AASHTO sites and subsites to provide a seamless experience to visitors by introducing aesthetic uniformity and ease of access to important information.

iENGINEERING is focused to improve the overall communication, coordination, and engagement of AASHTO members. iENGINEERING is enabling AASHTO to go beyond the traditional content-based website by integrating modern tools and technologies that will enable and facilitate engagement within the organization, and between its members and external stakeholders.

AASHTO’s NTPEP DataMine Enhanced with New Features

iENGINEERING has successfully integrated new enhancements and features for AASHTO’s National Transportation Product Evaluation Program (NTPEP) web application. NTPEP DataMine provides AASHTO member departments with a unified method to evaluate materials, products, and devices of common interest for use in highway and bridge construction. The primary goal of the program is to provide cost-effective evaluations for the State DOTs by eliminating duplication of testing and auditing by States and duplication of effort by manufacturers that provide products for evaluation.

iENGINEERING has recently upgraded several features to the website to further facilitate end-users and State DOTs in their routine business processes. The Asphalt Binder Suppliers (ABS) module has been developed for the NTPEP DataMine web application. The Departments of Transportation (DOTs) use NTPEP DataMine, an online repository of product evaluation data and audit reports, to choose pre-approved products and manufacturers for highway construction projects. The ABS module provides audit information for facilities that comply with the Quality Control (QC) and product testing requirements of this program. AASHTO member departments can then use this information for supplier/product acceptance. This may include utilizing this information to establish a qualified manufacturer list, a qualified products list, or both. Alongside this, the email notifications setting now enables users to select from which module they want to receive email. This enhancement allows users to select their notification preference for each technical committee. This option will be available under MyDataMine in the “my preferences” section.

Delivery of a New Product for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)

The 2022 annual release of the FHWA LTPP InfoPaveTM was recently completed, which included a major product enhancement to the website with the addition of an Analysis Ready Materials Dataset (ARMAD). This unique dataset, developed in partnership with the FHWA and other contractors, is the product of an extensive data gathering, synthesis, and simplification process that will assist researchers and practitioners with conducting their pavement materials-related data analyses.

The LTPP ARMAD summarizes the material properties of the pavement layers, including asphalt concrete (AC), Portland cement concrete (PCC), unbound granular base/subbase, stabilized base/subbase, subgrade, surface treatments, and engineering fabrics into one source of information. The primary benefit of this process is to reduce the time and effort needed to find materials and characteristics data that previously had been scattered among dozens of tables.

Already widely recognized as the world’s premier source of data and information on pavement performance, LTPP InfoPaveTM is now equipped to offer improved data accessibility with the debut of this ARMAD. Similar analysis-ready datasets related to performance, traffic, and climate are also planned for future releases.

FHWA InfoTechnologyTM Upgraded with Non-Destructive Evaluation Technology

Technology is ever-evolving. To assist with deploying the latest non-destructive evaluation (NDE) technology into the practitioner’s hands, the FHWA with assistance from iENGINEERING, developed the FHWA InfoTechnology portalTM. This portal allows infrastructure managers access to NDE information for pavements, bridges, and tunnels. As part of iENGINEERING’s continued build-out of this portal, new tools for timber bridges have been added to the site. Some of the technologies specific to timber bridges include Acoustic Tomography, Stress Wave Timing, and Ground Penetrating Radar, among others. The additions of these greatly enhance the portal and consolidate hard-to-find information into an easy-to-use interface.

For a demo of the FHWA InfoTechnologyTM portal, please do not hesitate to reach out to iENGINEERING’s Product Manager, Alex Vuotto at alex.vuotto@iengineering.com.

iENGINEERING Receives Ontario Professional Engineers Certification

iENGINEERING is proud to receive a certificate of authorization from the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario, Canada. This group regulates the practice of professional engineering by ensuring all professional engineers meet rigorous qualifications for licensing and that only properly qualified individuals practice engineering. This certification authorizes iENGINEERING Canada Inc. to engage in services that are within the practice of professional engineering in the province of Ontario. iENGINEERING looks forward to contributing to the transportation technology sector in Canada.
