Highway construction and maintenance is a complex task that involves multiple stakeholders working together in different roles. One of the areas that require significant collaboration between these stakeholders is the evaluation and selection of products manufactured for transportation infrastructure construction and maintenance. The use of quality construction products contributes significantly to the longevity of transportation infrastructure. In order to facilitate collaboration and streamline the evaluation processes, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) realized the need for an automated system that would provide standard product evaluation methods across all states. For this purpose, the AASHTO launched a technical service program called National Transportation Product Evaluation Program (NTPEP). Considering the requirements, iENGINEERING developed NTPEP DataMine for the AASHTO National Transportation Product Evaluation Program.
The NTPEP combines the professional and physical resources of the AASHTO member departments in order to evaluate materials, products, and devices of common interest for use in highway and bridge construction. The primary goal of the program is to provide cost-effective evaluations for the state Departments of Transportation (DOTs) by eliminating duplication of testing and auditing by the states and duplication of effort by the manufacturers that provide products for evaluation.
iENGINEERING has helped AASHTO to build a robust technical solution known as NTPEP DataMine which serves as the technology backbone of this program. iENGINEERING has designed and developed this system which has evolved over the past decade. It effectively solves many real-life problems for the product evaluation program and serves as a central online repository for all product evaluations and audits conducted by the State DOTs. iENGINEERING also provides maintenance, support, and enhancement services for the system.
NTPEP DataMine by iENGINEERING is the online repository of data and audit reports for all NTPEP services. This database provides the tools for performing queries that assist in analyzing and reporting on current and past NTPEP evaluations.
The latest release of NTPEP DataMine contains many new features that include simpler application submission, easier document uploading, automatic fee calculation, NTPEP DataLink, manufacturer branding, product timeline, and real-time payment options. It also provides simple and advanced search features for finding products and test data. These features include Find Products, Advanced Search, and Global Search. Additionally, this release contains improved workflows that provide better control over data entry and release processes.
